Bath resealing in Wyke Common

Wyke Common: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Wyke Common included. Travel is included in the price.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

About our bath resealing in Wyke Common

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. We are often asked to fix black mould in the sealant and gaps in the seal, in shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Wyke Common and across Bradford.

Why it’s worth resealing in Wyke Common

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • No need to remove anything
  • We leave the room as we found it

See our prices page.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take about two hours for a bath, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Open a window after bathing

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, generally around 24 hours.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Prices and what affects them

You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Wyke Common, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Bradford and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
