Repairing burns and scratches in uPVC sills and frames

Most damage to uPVC can be repaired in place, without a new window or door.

Common damage

  • Burns on internal sills from candles and cigarettes
  • Scratches from ladders, furniture and tools
  • Drill holes from old blinds, alarms and fittings
  • Chips and dents from building work

How it’s repaired

The damaged area is cleaned, filled and sanded smooth, then refinished to match the frame. White uPVC is the most common, and coloured and woodgrain finishes can be matched by hand.

Why not just replace it?

A new window or door costs far more, and a replacement sill or panel may not match the colour of the rest of the frame after years of weathering.
