Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is typically the colour, not the bath.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
- A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
- Faded or patchy colour

Coloured bath resurfacing in Ashington without replacing anything
Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. We work on coloured shower trays, avocado, pampas and pink baths and whole bathroom suites, and common reasons people contact us are a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Repairing versus replacing in Ashington
Replacing a coloured suite involves new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

When a repair isn’t the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
Surfaces we repair
- Coloured shower trays
- Whole bathroom suites
- Avocado, pampas and pink baths
- Coloured basins
Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Ashington. The price reflects:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How many items we do on one visit
- The size and number of damaged areas
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
Getting a price from pictures
Phone photos are fine. Just ensure we can see:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Details of any past repairs
- The material, if you know it
- One picture of the entire suite
To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
How it works
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which usually takes a day or two, depending on how many items. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
- We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
- Each item is left to cure, normally ready the next day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Make sure the area is dry
