Coloured bath resurfacing in Audley End, done in place

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. If you’re dealing with faded or patchy colour and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, we can help.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Essex. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes one to two days for a full suite. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Each item is left to cure, normally ready the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured basins

When to call us in Audley End

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and many are still sound. The problem is generally the colour, not the bath.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What preparation is included
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

10 questions to ask before you book

Repairing versus replacing in Audley End

Replacing a coloured suite means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Audley End. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Audley End

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colour-matched on site
  • No extra charge for your area
  • A fixed quote before you book

Take a look at our prices page or bath cost comparison.

What coloured bath resurfacing costs

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • The type of damage
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Most clients in Audley End get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Audley End questions

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Landlord and trade work in Audley End

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

If you manage property in Audley End, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
