Coloured bath resurfacing near Berwick

Coloured bath resurfacing in Berwick, done in place

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. We are often asked to fix selling or letting a home with an old suite and faded or patchy colour, in whole bathroom suites, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured basins.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a day or two, depending on how many items. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

What we’re called out for in Berwick

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and many are still sound. The problem is generally the colour, not the bath.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a coloured suite involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing turns it white without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

What we can’t put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured basins

How we price coloured bath resurfacing

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • One picture of the entire suite
  • Any details about the material
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Berwick, and we will reply with a fixed price.
