Common problems we fix in Brampton Street

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s normally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How to look after the finish

Coloured bath resurfacing in Brampton Street, done in place

Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there is no plumbing or tiling. We’re frequently asked to fix a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom, across coloured basins, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured shower trays.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Brampton Street and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

How it works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes one to two days for a full suite, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Each item is left to cure, normally ready the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

Your questions about coloured bath resurfacing in Brampton Street

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, normally with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Suffolk.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured basins
  • Coloured shower trays

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing changes the colour without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Brampton Street. The price depends on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • One picture of the entire suite
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the suite, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
