When to call us in Coat

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. The problem is normally the colour, not the bath.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Coat

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. If you are dealing with a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and selling or letting a home with an old suite, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Common questions in Coat

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Do you come to Coat?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Coat for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you turn my avocado bath white?

Yes. It’s resurfaced in white where it stands.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Access to the area
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Coat use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a coloured suite involves new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a day or two, depending on how many items. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
