Coloured bath resurfacing for Currie homes

Coloured bath resurfacing in Currie without replacing anything

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there is no plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. We regularly repair coloured shower trays, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured basins, and the jobs we see most are faded or patchy colour and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a day or two, depending on how many items. The room is left tidy.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the whole suite
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

What a repair can’t fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites

Common problems we fix in Currie

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is generally the colour, not the bath.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

What to look for in a quote

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How your room will be protected
  • How long it needs to cure

Questions from Currie

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

How do I get a price for coloured bath resurfacing in Currie?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your EH14 postcode.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Edinburgh.

What about the toilet?

Ask us. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we will advise honestly before quoting.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Repairing versus replacing in Currie

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing turns it white without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Work done at your home or business
  • No need to remove anything
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
