Common questions in Dalchalm

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What about the toilet?

Ask us. A toilet bowl is constantly wet, so we’ll advise honestly before quoting.

Do you cover Dalchalm?

We do. We send a technician to Dalchalm for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

About our coloured bath resurfacing in Dalchalm

Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. A full suite is usually done in one to two days. If you are dealing with a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom, we can typically put it right, on avocado, pampas and pink baths, whole bathroom suites and coloured shower trays alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a coloured suite means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a day or two, depending on how many items, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

How to get a fixed price

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths

What we are called out for in Dalchalm

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. The problem is typically the colour, not the bath.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

What to look for in a quote

  • How your room will be protected
  • When it can be used again
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • If travel is included in the price
