Coloured bath resurfacing in Downside

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Downside

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. A full suite is normally done in one to two days. Our repair technicians work on whole bathroom suites, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured basins, and the jobs we see most are a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Landlord and trade work in Downside

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a coloured suite means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing turns it white without taking anything out. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a day or two, depending on how many items. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. The surface is prepared and primed.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Let us know about parking or access

Common problems we fix in Downside

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is usually the colour, not the bath.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How to care for the finish

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What affects the price in Downside

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material
  • Access to the area

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Downside. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Most clients in Downside get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
