DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

About our coloured bath resurfacing in Fairlop

A full suite is generally done in one to two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. Typical jobs include selling or letting a home with an old suite and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, across avocado, pampas and pink baths, coloured shower trays and coloured basins.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

FAQs for Fairlop

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How do I get a price for coloured bath resurfacing in Fairlop?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing turns it white without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why book with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

The process

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a day or two, depending on how many items, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a price

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say straight away whether it can be repaired.

Advice

Do you need coloured bath resurfacing in Fairlop?

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s normally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom

Questions to ask before booking

  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What protection goes down before work starts

10 questions to ask before booking

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we work on in Fairlop

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • How many areas need work
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.
