How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Glapthorn

Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. If you’re dealing with faded or patchy colour and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom, we can typically put it right, on whole bathroom suites, coloured shower trays and coloured basins alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

When we would advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Glapthorn. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the entire suite
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash

Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Glapthorn, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

What we’re called out for in Glapthorn

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

People generally call us after spotting one of these:

  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white

Before you book anyone

  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How long it needs to cure

10 questions to ask before you book

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a coloured suite means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a day or two, depending on how many items, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Glapthorn: your questions answered

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you turn my avocado bath white?

Yes. It’s resurfaced in white where it stands.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you do the toilet too?

Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we will tell you what will last.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
