When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Great Leighs

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. We are often asked to fix faded or patchy colour and selling or letting a home with an old suite, in whole bathroom suites, coloured basins and coloured shower trays.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Great Leighs as everywhere else we work. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

What we’re called out for in Great Leighs

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is generally the colour, not the bath.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white

What affects the price in Great Leighs

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is

Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the entire suite

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire suite, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Questions from Great Leighs

Can you do the toilet too?

Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll advise honestly before quoting.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Essex. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

Do you charge for travel?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a coloured suite involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white changes the colour without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to one to two days for a full suite, including clearing up.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Essex and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
