Questions from Highlane

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Can you do the toilet too?

Ask us. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll advise honestly before quoting.

Can you turn my avocado bath white?

Yes. It’s resurfaced in white where it stands.

Coloured bath resurfacing in Highlane without replacing anything

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. We regularly repair coloured shower trays, coloured basins and whole bathroom suites, and common reasons people get in touch are selling or letting a home with an old suite and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a day or two, depending on how many items from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. We leave everything to cure, typically until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the whole suite
  • Details of any past repairs

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

When to call us in Highlane

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Common reasons people in Highlane contact us include:

  • Faded or patchy colour

Repair or replace in Highlane?

Replacing a coloured suite means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Landlord and trade work in Highlane

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Sheffield and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
