Coloured bath resurfacing in Houbie

Coloured bath resurfacing in Houbie, done in place

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there is no plumbing or tiling. Common call-outs are for selling or letting a home with an old suite and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom, across coloured shower trays, avocado, pampas and pink baths and whole bathroom suites.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Houbie, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in the Shetland Islands and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a day or two, depending on how many items, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. We leave everything to cure, typically until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

Signs you need coloured bath resurfacing in Houbie

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What prep work is covered

Our hiring checklist

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a coloured suite means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white without taking anything out. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Houbie. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Houbie customers choose us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

When a repair is not the answer

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Houbie questions

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What does coloured bath resurfacing cost?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you do the toilet too?

Ask us. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll tell you what will last.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There is no charge for travel to Houbie. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

If you’re in Houbie and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
