Coloured bath resurfacing near Martin's Moss

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Martin's Moss

Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there is no plumbing or tiling. A full suite is typically done in one to two days. We regularly repair coloured shower trays, coloured basins and avocado, pampas and pink baths, and people most often call us about faded or patchy colour and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

What coloured bath resurfacing costs

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A wider photo showing the entire suite
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size

Most customers in Martin's Moss get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Common problems we fix in Martin's Moss

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

How to compare quotes

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white changes the colour without taking anything out. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Questions from Martin's Moss

Are there extra charges for Martin's Moss?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

What about the toilet?

Talk to us first. A toilet bowl is constantly wet, so we’ll advise honestly before quoting.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Martin's Moss. Our prices are the same everywhere.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Coloured shower trays
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a day or two, depending on how many items. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Each item is left to cure, usually ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
