Signs you need coloured bath resurfacing in Newbury's

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s typically the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

10 questions to ask before booking

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Newbury's

Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. Whether it’s a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and faded or patchy colour, we can normally put it right, on coloured shower trays, whole bathroom suites and avocado, pampas and pink baths alike.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Newbury's: your questions answered

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

What about the toilet?

Ask us. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we will advise honestly before quoting.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Do you cover Newbury's?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Newbury's for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What coloured bath resurfacing costs

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the entire suite
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, with your TN5 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Landlord and trade work in Newbury's

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Newbury's use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Repairing versus replacing in Newbury's

Replacing a coloured suite means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. You can expect it to take one to two days for a full suite.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Each item is left to cure, normally ready the following day.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire suite, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

What a repair cannot fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
