Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Pathhead
We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. A full suite is normally done in one to two days. We regularly repair whole bathroom suites, coloured basins and avocado, pampas and pink baths, and people most often call us about selling or letting a home with an old suite and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

When a repair isn’t the answer
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Where we work around Pathhead
Pathhead is about 4 miles south-east of Dalkeith, in Midlothian. Our repair technicians come to clients in Pathhead and nearby villages, so there is no workshop to go to. Pathhead is one of 33 towns and villages in Midlothian where we work. You can also see our page for Edinburgh, about 11 miles away.
Our visits in EH37 are booked in the same way as anywhere else. That includes homes on Main Street, Oxenfoord Avenue and Preston Place and the roads around them. We also work in nearby towns such as Bonnyrigg (5 miles west), Dalkeith (4 miles north-west), Penicuik (10 miles west), Loanhead (7 miles west), Gorebridge (3 miles south-west) and Newtongrange (4 miles west).
Around Pathhead
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Ford, among other places. For rail, the closest station is Gorebridge station, roughly 3.5 miles south-west of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Oxenfoord Castle (1 mile north-west) and Midlothian Community Hospital (4.8 miles west).
For landlords and businesses
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

What affects the price in Pathhead
Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- How much damage there is
- Doing more than one item at once
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The colour and finish to match
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.
Quotes from your pictures
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- The material, if you know it
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A photo taken from further back
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole suite, we can price the job the same day in most cases.
Can I fix it myself?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

The process
When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes one to two days for a full suite. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- We protect the room and ventilate it.
- We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
- Each item is left to cure, usually ready the next day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
Advice
Do you need coloured bath resurfacing in Pathhead?
Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is generally the colour, not the bath.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
- A suite that does not match a new bathroom
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
- Faded or patchy colour

Common questions in Pathhead
Will there be a smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.
Is it messy?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.
Can a coloured bath be made white?
Yes. We resurface it in white with it left in place.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
How quickly can you book me in?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
