What we can’t put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Whole bathroom suites

About our coloured bath resurfacing in Pen-y-garn

A full suite is generally done in one to two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. If you’re dealing with a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and selling or letting a home with an old suite, we can help, whatever the material.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white without taking anything out. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Common questions in Pen-y-garn

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you come to Pen-y-garn?

We do. We send a technician to Pen-y-garn for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s typically the colour that dates them, not the condition.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

How we price coloured bath resurfacing

Resurfacing from £350. There is no charge for travel to Pen-y-garn. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • One picture of the whole suite
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes one to two days for a full suite. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. We leave everything to cure, usually until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price
