When we’d advise against a repair

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites

Coloured bath resurfacing in Polmear, done in place

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there is no plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. We regularly repair coloured basins, coloured shower trays and avocado, pampas and pink baths, and people most often call us about selling or letting a home with an old suite and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which typically takes a day or two, depending on how many items. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. We leave everything to cure, typically until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Common questions in Polmear

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

What about the toilet?

Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we will advise honestly before quoting.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

How we price coloured bath resurfacing

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Polmear. The price depends on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • One picture of the whole suite
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Repairing versus replacing in Polmear

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Why Polmear customers choose us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • One visit for most repairs
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

When to call us in Polmear

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom

What your quote should include

  • When it can be used again
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlords, agents and businesses in Polmear

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
