FAQs for Redwick

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Do you cover the whole of South Gloucestershire?

Across the UK, so Redwick is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

What coloured bath resurfacing costs

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole suite

Most clients in Redwick get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing turns it white with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Redwick

  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths

Common problems we fix in Redwick

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom

What to look for in a quote

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What protection goes down before work starts

10 questions to ask before you book

The process

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a day or two, depending on how many items. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
