About our coloured bath resurfacing in Swanage

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there is no plumbing or tiling. Whether it’s a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and faded or patchy colour, we can help, on avocado, pampas and pink baths, whole bathroom suites and coloured shower trays alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Swanage use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Swanage questions

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

What about the toilet?

Ask us. A toilet bowl is constantly wet, so we’ll tell you what will last.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Repairing versus replacing in Swanage

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

How it works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take one to two days for a full suite, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. We leave everything to cure, generally until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What affects the price in Swanage

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • How much damage there is
  • The material
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

When to call us in Swanage

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom

Questions to ask before you book

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • What prep work is covered
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

How to compare quotes

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
