About our coloured bath resurfacing in The Common
Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. We work on avocado, pampas and pink baths, whole bathroom suites and coloured shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and selling or letting a home with an old suite.
All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

When a repair is not the answer
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
Materials we work on in The Common
- Coloured shower trays
- Avocado, pampas and pink baths
- Coloured basins
- Whole bathroom suites
The process
Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a day or two, depending on how many items, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- We protect the room and ventilate it.
- Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
- We leave everything to cure, usually until the next day.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking or access
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear the area around the damage

Advice
Can I fix it myself?
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
Should you replace it?
Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

The Common questions
Can pets and children be at home?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
Will the price change on the day?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
How do I book?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.
What does coloured bath resurfacing cost?
Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CB10 postcode.
What happens after I send pictures?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.
Is there a guarantee?
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Doing more than one item at once
- How easy the damage is to reach
- What kind of damage it is
There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
How to get a fixed price
Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole suite, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
