How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Thurstonland

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. Common call-outs are for a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and selling or letting a home with an old suite, in coloured shower trays, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured basins.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No need to remove anything

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes one to two days for a full suite. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Thurstonland. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Any details about the material
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, with your HD4 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Do you need coloured bath resurfacing in Thurstonland?

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom

FAQs for Thurstonland

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What we cannot put right

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
