Windy Arbour: your questions answered

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Windy Arbour.

Do you cover the whole of Wigan?

Across the UK, and that includes Windy Arbour. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Are there extra charges for Windy Arbour?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

What about the toilet?

Ask us. A toilet bowl is constantly wet, so we’ll tell you what will last.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Usually, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Coloured bath resurfacing in Windy Arbour, done in place

Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. If you’re dealing with faded or patchy colour and selling or letting a home with an old suite, we can help, on coloured shower trays, whole bathroom suites and coloured basins alike.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the whole suite

To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites

Common problems we fix in Windy Arbour

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is generally the colour, not the bath.

Clients generally contact us about:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom

Comparing quotes

  • What preparation is included
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Our hiring checklist

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing turns it white with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. It normally takes one to two days for a full suite, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and primed.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the suite is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.
