What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned.
  2. Next we fill the dents and chips.
  3. The repair is levelled to the board.
  4. We match the colour and grain by hand.
  5. The repair is finished to match the floor’s sheen.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

Your questions about wood floor repair in Cardrona

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged board frequently means lifting boards to reach it, finding a board that matches and relaying. A repair leaves the floor down. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Cardrona. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Cardrona as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What affects the price in Cardrona

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Cardrona. The price reflects:

  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the whole floor
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

When a repair is not the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Laminate swollen along the joints by water
  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.
