How we handle wood floor repair in Cubley

We repair damaged boards in place, matched to the colour and grain. Water-swollen laminate needs replacing, and we will be honest about that. Whether it’s chipped board edges and gouges from moving appliances, we can normally put it right.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover. Use felt pads under furniture and wipe up spills promptly.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged board often means lifting boards to reach it, finding a board that matches and laying it all again. A repair leaves the floor down. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Common problems we fix in Cubley

Furniture, pets and dropped items scratch and dent wood and laminate, and moving appliances can gouge them.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Dents from dropped items
  • Gouges from moving appliances
  • Chipped board edges
  • Scratches from furniture and pets

What your quote should include

  • How the colour is matched
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What happens if they find more damage

How to compare quotes

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Laminate swollen along the joints by water
  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Laminate flooring
  • Engineered wood
  • Solid wood
  • Wood-effect vinyl (ask us)

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What wood floor repair costs

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Cubley. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • One picture of the whole floor
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the floor, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Cubley questions

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We clean the damaged area.
  2. Dents, chips and gouges are filled.
  3. We level the repair to the board surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and grain by hand.
  5. We finish the repair to match the sheen of the floor.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Ask for a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
