Wood floor repair for Ford homes

About our wood floor repair in Ford

We repair damaged boards in place, with the colour and grain matched by hand. Laminate swollen by water cannot be repaired, and we will tell you if that’s the case. We regularly repair engineered wood, solid wood and laminate flooring, and common reasons people get in touch are scratches from furniture and pets and chipped board edges.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Sefton. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe up spills promptly.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Ford. The price comes down to:

  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the entire floor
  • Details of any past repairs

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole floor, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a board frequently means lifting boards to reach it, sourcing a matching board and relaying. Repairing it works with the boards in place. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • One visit for most repairs

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a few hours. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the damaged area.
  2. We fill dents, chips and gouges.
  3. The repair is levelled to the board.
  4. We match the colour and grain by hand.
  5. We finish the repair to match the sheen of the floor.

How to prepare

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What a repair can’t fix

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Laminate swollen along the joints by water
  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Solid wood
  • Laminate flooring
  • Engineered wood
  • Wood-effect vinyl (ask us)

Ford: your questions answered

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can scratched laminate be fixed?

Yes. Scratches and chips are filled and matched to the pattern.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

  • Scratches from furniture and pets
