How we handle wood floor repair in Polgigga

Boards are repaired where they lie, matched to the colour and grain. Laminate swollen by water cannot be repaired, and we’ll be honest about that. Common call-outs are for gouges from moving appliances and dents from dropped items, in laminate flooring, engineered wood and wood-effect vinyl (ask us).

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee. Use felt pads under furniture and wipe up spills promptly.

What wood floor repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The colour and finish to match

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any details about the material
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

For a price in Polgigga, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

  • Gouges from moving appliances
  • Burns

Our hiring checklist

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a board can mean lifting the floor back to it, finding a board that matches and relaying. Repairing it works with the boards in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Common questions in Polgigga

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens on the day

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned.
  2. We fill dents, chips and gouges.
  3. The repair is levelled to the board.
  4. We match the colour and grain by hand.
  5. We finish the repair to match the sheen of the floor.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
