Wood floor repair for The Pound homes

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a damaged board frequently means lifting boards to reach it, finding a board that matches and laying it all again. A repair leaves the floor down. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

About our wood floor repair in The Pound

Laminate swollen by water can’t be repaired, and we will be honest about that. We repair damaged boards in place, matched to the colour and grain. Whether it’s gouges from moving appliances and dents from dropped items, we can usually put it right, on laminate flooring, engineered wood and wood-effect vinyl (ask us) alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe up spills promptly.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • One picture of the entire floor
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in The Pound, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlord and trade work in The Pound

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Gloucestershire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned.
  2. Next we fill the dents and chips.
  3. We sand the repair flush with the board.
  4. We match the colour and grain by hand.
  5. The repair is finished to match the floor’s sheen.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Your questions about wood floor repair in The Pound

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

What does wood floor repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your GL18 postcode.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Are there extra charges for The Pound?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

When we’d advise against a repair

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.
