Questions from Totton

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Do you cover the entire of Hampshire?

Everywhere in the UK, Totton included. Travel is included in the price.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Does the room need clearing?

Only from the area we’re working on.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Wood floor repair in Totton without replacing anything

Laminate swollen by water cannot be repaired, and we will tell you if that’s the case. We repair damaged boards in place, with the colour and grain matched by hand. We’re often asked to fix scratches from furniture and pets and dents from dropped items, across laminate flooring, wood-effect vinyl (ask us) and solid wood.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe spills immediately.

Choosing a repair company

What a repair cannot fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Laminate swollen along the joints by water
  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Wood-effect vinyl (ask us)
  • Solid wood
  • Engineered wood
  • Laminate flooring

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a morning or an afternoon for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage.
  2. Next we fill the dents and chips.
  3. We sand the repair flush with the board.
  4. The colour and grain are recreated by hand.
  5. The repair is finished to match the floor’s sheen.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Getting a price

What wood floor repair costs

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Totton. The price comes down to:

  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

If you’re in Totton and want a price, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a board can mean lifting the floor back to it, finding a board that matches and laying it all again. A repair works with the boards in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • No extra charge for your area
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
