About our non-slip bath coating in Brockdish

It’s a clear, textured coating, so the bath looks much the same. It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. If you are dealing with resurfaced baths that are now too smooth and a bath or tray that is slippery when wet, we can typically put it right, on enamelled baths, shower trays and wet room floors (ask us) alike.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Suffolk. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Do not use abrasive pads on the textured area.

Common questions in Brockdish

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

How do I clean it?

Yes. A soft brush and mild cleaner is all it needs.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed quote, generally with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

Can you quote from photos?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Will a non-slip coating change how my bath looks?

Very little: the treated area looks slightly matt.

Should you replace it?

The alternatives are a new textured bath or tray, or a bath mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A non-slip coating treats your existing bath or tray. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Shower trays
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Enamelled baths

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by degreasing the area where you stand.
  2. Next we mask off the area.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. Once it has cured, normally overnight, it’s ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower tray, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

What non-slip bath coating costs

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

If you are in Brockdish and want a price, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
