Prices and what affects them

You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price.

Non-slip bath coating in Langney, done in place

It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. We regularly repair enamelled baths, acrylic baths and wet room floors (ask us), and the jobs we see most are resurfaced baths that are now too smooth and bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Don’t use abrasive pads on the textured area.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Shower trays
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Enamelled baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes a few hours. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean and degrease the standing area.
  2. Next we mask off the area.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. Once it has cured, normally overnight, it’s ready.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Getting a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

When to call us in Langney

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, but wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Worn-out textured areas

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How the colour is matched
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

Choosing a repair company

Why repair rather than replace?

The alternatives are a new textured bath or tray, or relying on a mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A non-slip coating treats your existing bath or tray. Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

What you get with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Langney, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Questions from Langney

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across East Sussex.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Will I see the coating?

Only slightly: it shows as a matt area where you stand.

Are there extra charges for Langney?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
