About bath repair in BA7
We’ve repaired just about every kind of bath damage: dropped-bottle chips, plughole rust, acrylic cracks and impact holes. Each is repaired in place. Typical jobs include a chipped rim or side and cracks in an acrylic bath, across acrylic, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the day after.
What you will pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Aftercare tips
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
Care for the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
Common problems we fix in BA7
A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.
Look out for any of the following:
- Damage beneath the taps
- A cracked acrylic bath
- A chipped rim or side
- Impact holes in acrylic
When we would advise against a repair
A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
BA7 questions
Will there be a smell?
There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
Normally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.
Are there extra charges for BA7?
We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
