About bath repair in BH12
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the day after. We’re frequently asked to fix a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and a chip where the taps sit, on acrylic, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.
When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What it costs in BH12
Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

DIY kit or professional repair?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
Why repair rather than replace?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it.

Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
How to care for the repair
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.
Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How many items we do on one visit
- The type of damage
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.
Send photos for a quote
Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Ensure they show:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Details of any past repairs
- Any details about the material
- One picture of the whole bath
Upload pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in BH12, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
FAQs for BH12
When can I have a bath again?
Typically within a day, depending on the repair.
Do you cover the whole of Poole?
Across the UK. Prices don’t change with location.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Generally. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.
