Bath repair across CO3: what to expect

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for a cracked acrylic bath and rust by the waste and overflow, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

What you will pay

Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Repair or replace?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit.

What your quote should include

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

How the damage happens

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • A chipped rim or side

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for CO3. The price reflects:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What the surface is made of

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed price

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Most customers in CO3 get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

CO3 questions

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

The whole UK, including all of Essex. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

How invisible is a bath repair?
