Bath repair at your home in EH53
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. Typical jobs include scratches you can feel with a fingernail and a kit repair that didn’t last, on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.
We work cleanly and quietly. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
What you’ll pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
Signs you need bath repair
Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, often before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
The things clients usually mention when they call are:
- A cracked acrylic bath
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- A chipped rim or side
- A chip where the taps sit
Looking after it afterwards
To keep it looking its best:
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Why repair rather than replace?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you.
What your quote should include
- How changes to the job are handled
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- What protection goes down before work starts
- What preparation is included
EH53 questions
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
What do you need from me?
Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?
Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.
Will I be able to see the repair?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
