Our bath repair service in FK21

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in a single visit. Common call-outs are for a chip where the taps sit and rust by the waste and overflow, on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Cost

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Repair or replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What happens if they find more damage

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for FK21. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the photos on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Details of any past repairs

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
