How bath repair works in G79
Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Typical jobs include a cracked acrylic bath and scuffs and scratches in the surface, across acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.
Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes two to three hours for most chips, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the next day.
Cost
Our bath repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What bath repair costs
Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including G79. What changes the price is:
- How many items we do on one visit
- How much damage there is
- What the surface is made of
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for G79. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send photos for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Details of any past repairs
- Where you are, by postcode
There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
Repair or replace?
Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in one visit.
What your quote should include
- Whether the price covers travel
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- What prep work is covered
G79: your questions answered
Can you fix rust around the plughole?
Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
What happens if you find more damage?
The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
What information do you need?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
How long before I can use the bath?
Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.
