About bath repair in IV10
A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We work on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are a chipped rim or side and chips caused by builders.
The work is clean and fairly quiet. We protect the area first, then the work takes a few hours. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.
What you will pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Getting a price
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
Near you in Fortrose
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to St Andrew's Episcopal Church and the streets around them. For rail, the closest station is Inverness Airport station, roughly 4.3 miles south-east of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Groam House Museum (0.9 miles north-east) and Chanonry of Ross (within half a mile north-west). Not far away are Fairy Glen.
Signs you need bath repair
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
Common reasons people in IV10 contact us are:
- Damage beneath the taps
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
Aftercare tips
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Store metal items away from the bath
Care for the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
When a repair is not the answer
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- A steel bath rusted through
Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
Repairs by material
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Questions from IV10
Will you leave a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Typically. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.
Do you cover the whole of Highland?
Across the UK, and that includes IV10. Our prices are the same everywhere.
What do you need from me?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
