Bath repair at your home in KA15

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most frequently call us about rust by the waste and overflow and a kit repair that didn’t last.

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Cost

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Common problems we fix in KA15

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Chips under the taps

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

When we would advise against a repair

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much damage there is
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
