Bath repair across PE27: what to expect

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and snagging damage from a refit.

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

What’s near St Ives

We visit homes around St Ivo School, St Ivo School and 27 pub, among other places. You’ll also find All Saints Church (0.5 miles south) and Westfield Junior School (less than half a mile south). St Ives’s nearest station is Huntingdon station, roughly 5 miles west. A little further out are Castle Hill earthworks (3.6 miles south-east) and Hinchingbrooke Hospital (5.3 miles west). Not far away are Houghton Meadows.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Repairing versus replacing

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Landlord and trade work in PE27

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in PE27 as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
