About bath repair in TN1
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. Our technicians work on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are scuffs and scratches in the surface and chips along the edge of the bath.
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What you will pay
Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

When a repair isn’t the answer
A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
Signs you need bath repair
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Chips caused by builders
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
TN1: your questions answered
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Is there a guarantee?
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
When can you do it?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
Normally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.
Are there extra charges for TN1?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
