How bath repair works in TQ3

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and you can typically bathe again the next day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and people most often call us about an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and a chip where the taps sit.

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow a few hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

What you will pay

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Local landmarks in Paignton

Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Sacred Heart Catholic School, Paignton Academy and Parish Church of Christ Church. There is a railway station in Paignton itself: Paignton station. Other landmarks nearby include The Real Crime Museum (2.4 miles north-east) and Berry Pomeroy Castle (3 miles west). Not far away are Occombe Valley Woods.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Repair or replace?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price.

Questions to ask before you book

  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Aftercare advice
  • How your room will be protected

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for TQ3. The price reflects:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Common questions in TQ3

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Will I be able to see the repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Are there extra charges for TQ3?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Typically within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Do you work in TQ3?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to TQ3. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
