About bath repair in TQ6
Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles are not touched, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. Typical jobs include a kit repair that didn’t last and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel.
Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take a morning or an afternoon, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
Cost
Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

What’s near Dartmouth
Our clients here include homes close to Church of St Saviour, Browns pub and St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School and the streets around them. Nearby you will also find Bayard's Cove Fort (under half a mile south-east) and Brixham Community Hospital (4.1 miles north-east).
Keeping it looking good
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
There is nothing special to do after a repair. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.
Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.
Signs you need bath repair
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- Chips caused by builders
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- A chipped rim or side
When we would advise against a repair
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
Repairing versus replacing
When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you.

DIY kit or professional repair?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
TQ6 questions
Will I be able to see the repair?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Can you quote from photos?
Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Do you work in TQ6?
Yes, we do. We send a technician to TQ6 for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
