Bath repair at your home in TR21

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles are not touched, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are a hole punched through by something heavy and a chipped rim or side.

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours. The room is left tidy.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

Pricing in TR21

Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

What’s near Hugh Town

Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to The Bishop And Wolf Public House and Church of St Mary (Methodist) and the streets around them. Other landmarks nearby include St Mary's Hospital (under half a mile south-east) and Ennor Castle (0.6 miles east). Not far away are Mount Todden and Abbey Pool.

Repairing versus replacing

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit.

Landlord and trade work in TR21

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

What we’re called out for in TR21

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Questions from TR21

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Which areas do you work in?

All of the Isles of Scilly, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.
