Bath repair at your home in TR6

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, typically in a single visit. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a chip where the taps sit and cracks in an acrylic bath.

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

Prices in TR6

Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for TR6. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

There is nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
