Bath repair across WR12: what to expect

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We work on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are chips along the edge of the bath and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, tidy-up included.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Cost

Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What’s near Broadway

Around Broadway, we work in homes near St Michael and All Angel's Church, St Mary's Catholic Primary School and Horse and Hound pub. The nearest railway station is Honeybourne station, roughly 4.4 miles north of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Gordon Russell Design Museum (less than half a mile south-west). For a walk, there’s Broadway Hill.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in WR12 as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Your questions about bath repair in WR12

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do you cover WR12?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to WR12 from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

What information do you need?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.
