Shower tray repair in Arthurlie, done in place

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chips by the waste, cracks across the base and dull, stained surfaces can all be put right without removing the tray. Typical jobs include damage from a refit or building work and a tray that looks tired however much you clean it, on cast iron, enamelled steel and ceramic.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Repair or replace: which is better?

The tray itself may not cost much, but the work around it does: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. Repairing it takes one visit. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • No need to remove anything

What affects the price in Arthurlie

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Arthurlie. The price reflects:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Arthurlie, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check whether the tray moves.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned and opened up.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated
  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach

Rinse the tray down after showering, clean with mild cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

Act on split sealant early. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. Impacts can chip or crack them, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so it’s worth repairing early.
