Shower tray repair in Clydach

Shower tray repair in Clydach, done in place

A cracked or chipped shower tray does not always need replacing. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, saving you the cost and mess of a new one. We regularly repair enamelled steel, acrylic and stone resin, and the jobs we see most are damage around the waste and edge chips from dropped bottles.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Do not stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach
  • Rinse away soap after showering
  • Report any creaking or movement early

Store heavy bottles on a shelf, not on the tray, so they can’t be knocked over.

A tray that moves underfoot needs looking at, before it cracks.

The process

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. The repair is colour-matched, or the entire tray gets a new finish.
  5. Once cured, usually by the next day, you can use the shower.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Questions from Clydach

Do you redo the sealant?

Yes. Add it to your quote and we will do both on one visit.

When can I use the shower again?

Normally by the following day. We’ll tell you the exact time when we finish.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Clydach and the rest of Swansea. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Repairing versus replacing in Clydach

The tray is normally the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so taking one out disturbs a lot. A repair keeps everything as it is. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Clydach. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why book with us

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

What we are called out for in Clydach

Rigid trays don’t bend, they crack if the floor beneath them is not flat and fully supported. Timber floors that move can cause it too.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Cracks running from the waste
  • Edge chips from dropped bottles
  • A damaged area around the waste
  • Damage from a refit or building work

What we can’t put right

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron
  • Stone resin
  • Acrylic
  • Ceramic
  • Enamelled steel

What affects the price in Clydach

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Clydach. The price comes down to:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • One picture of the entire shower tray
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Most clients in Clydach get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so a firm base is essential. We repair cracks and scratches.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.
